2022 Ford Maverick

When you think about trucks these days, chances are you picture a lifted giant with oversized wheels that you need a step ladder just to hop in the driver's seat. More and more you see trucks getting bigger and bigger, and while these DIY monster trucks are bad ass and are capable of towing a small home, they aren’t always the most practical. Imagine trying to parallel park a lifted F-150 with 34” tires in New York City during rush hour, Fuhgetaboutit!!

For some people having an oversized truck can be less useful and more of a burden, especially if you live in an urban area. Taking tight turns and fitting into small places can be a nightmare, a simple U-turn can become a precision maneuver requiring all your focus. In the past, Trucks like the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Tacoma have been the go-to for someone looking to own something a bit smaller than the typical full-size truck. But over the years as these trucks have become more popular they’ve also become larger, it’s like they got into high school and finally hit their growth spurt. While the Ranger and the Tacoma may have grown up, all hope is not lost.

The all-new 2022 Ford Maverick comes in and revamps the compact truck market. This is the first truck to come standard with a hybrid engine that boasts an impressive 40 mpg in the city! The 2.5L Hybrid engine puts out 191 HP, 155 lb-ft of torque, and has a 2,000 lb base towing capacity. This option is perfect for someone looking for the utility of a truck with the efficiency of a Honda Civic. But If you’re looking for a little more power you’re probably gonna lean towards the 2.0L Ecoboost engine. This option not only gives you 250hp and 277 lb-ft of torque but gives you the choice of AWD which may be a necessary feature if you drive in snow or rough terrain.

The interior of the Maverick is actually quite spacious, sporting a crew cab there's ample room for passengers even if it is a bit tight. The lower-priced models feature cloth seats with an orange stitching accent to match with splashes of orange throughout the interior. The Lariat option features two-tone leather-like material wrapping the seats called Active X, with bronze accents on the dash and handles. The cab has all sorts of cup holders and cubbies to keep all your belongings and a wireless charger for your phone.

 This truck is quickly becoming popular and for good reason, it seems to offer the best of both worlds, the practicality of a car AND the utility of a truck, all while not breaking the bank. Not to mention the Maverick actually looks pretty cool too! With multiple trim levels and all sorts of features, this truck can be your weekday grocery getter and/or your weekend adventure vehicle. While the Maverick may not have a lot of competition currently, we believe its popularity opens up the market for other manufacturers to throw their hats in the ring.
