Installation Guide for Jeep Wrangler JL Mud Flaps
Front Mud Flaps Installation & Compatibility
Our front Jeep Wrangler JL Mud Flaps were developed using our very own Jeep Wrangler JLUR, ensuring a perfect fit and rugged performance. The Rubicon trim presents a unique challenge with its “Rubi Rail”, which extends into the front wheel well. To accommodate this, we offer an optional pre-designed cutout that allows the rail to pass through while still providing maximum protection and a clean, aggressive look. If you drive a Moab, Sahara, or Sport model, or have replaced your rock rails with aftermarket side steps, you’ll want to order the solid mud flap option without the cutout, as most aftermarket rails do not extend into the fender like the stock Rubicon rails.
Rock Rails & Side Steps Compatibility
-
Rubicon Rock Rails: Simply cut the tabs and remove the pre-designed cutout to allow for a perfect fit.
-
Mopar Performance Rails: These require slight modifications to the pre-cut hole for a proper installation.
-
Aftermarket Rock Rails & Side Steps: Most do not extend as far forward as OEM Rubicon sliders and will not interfere with our flaps. If needed, you can request the solid flaps without the cutout at checkout.
Additionally, like our rear mud flaps, the front flaps feature a quick-release function, making them easy to remove for rock crawling or other off-road adventures. Whether you need added protection on the road or flexibility on the trails, our front Wrangler JL mud flaps provide the perfect solution.
Rear Mud Flaps Installation & Compatibility
Our rear Jeep Wrangler JL Mud Flaps are designed with a custom powder-coated steel bracket system that provides a solid mounting point without compromising the look and feel of your Jeep. This heavy-duty bracket mounts directly to the frame, ensuring durability and stability on or off the trail. Best of all, this system is compatible with aftermarket bumpers as long as the mounting points on the frame remain accessible.
Installing with the Factory Bumper
To install the rear bracket, you’ll need to remove the lower portion of the rear factory fender liner, which is secured by three OEM screws. This step allows access to the frame where the brackets mount.
-
If you choose to leave the liner out, your installation is straightforward.
-
If you’d prefer to reinstall the liner, minor modifications will be necessary. For 2024+ Jeep Wrangler JL models, the liner has a more rounded shape, so the modification process will require slight adjustments to fit properly.
Installing with Aftermarket Bumpers
Since our rear mud flap bracket mounts directly to the frame, these flaps are fully compatible with most aftermarket bumpers. If your aftermarket bumper requires removing the rear fender liner, the mud flap mounting process remains unaffected, making installation simple and secure.
Our quick-release system allows for easy removal when needed, giving you the flexibility to adapt to different off-road conditions without hassle. Whether you're running a stock or aftermarket bumper, our Jeep Wrangler JL mud flaps offer trail-tested protection built to last.
Tips on Re installing the corner Liners in the rear.
The photos below show how one of our customers modified the corner liner to be able to re-install it. (2024 models have a slightly different liner piece so this would not be the same for 2024+ Wranglers) This modification is not required and done at your own risk.
FAQs: Everything You Need to Know
